Kinesis!

I just switched to a kinesis advantage pro keyboard. This thing is taking some slow getting used to, which is a good reason to blog. Besides the obviously uniquely shaped contour of the keyboard, it comes with internal memory that lets you remap any of the keys to other functions or keys. For me the most important feature is that all of the keys that I used to press using my pinkies such as cntl or enter are now pressed by my thumb, a much stronger finger. I may eventually go even further with this and add a foot pedal for cntl or something.

Kinesis also sells the evoluent vertical mouse which I tried for awhile and did not like in the least, but some people swear by it. What other good ergo-toys are out there that you've tried?

Searchnomics 2007

I just recently spoke on a panel at Searchnomics 2007 in Santa Clara, CA, my first external speaking gig as a representative from Google. The panel was on Search Engine Optimization for Web 2.0 Websites, and I was speaking alongside Amit Kumar from Yahoo Search. WebGuild has since put a relatively decent photo of me up on Flickr. A couple of people may recognize me as a non-speaking participant at WebmasterWorld Boston last year.

It was a fun event, not as large as Search Engine Strategies or Danny Sullivan's new Seach Marketing Expo - but an interesting event to get to hear from real webmasters what is going on in Search.
